Alexandra Uppman uses the concept of “Heimat” as narrative in much of her art. It is a German term for the feeling of belonging to a physical or emotional place (“home”). Alexandra creates a link to her multiple origins – Luxembourg, Finland, Sweden – through a common nature: a Nordic flora without borders, which has become one of the essential graphic sources of her work.
Alexandra goes through a meticulous and meditative graphic process where each gesture allows her to deal with identity through in-depth introspection.
